the starting point.

α-MSH fragment & epithelial signaling research

KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, a three-amino-acid sequence corresponding to residues 11–13 at the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH).

Published research has examined KPV in cellular and animal models involving inflammatory signaling, intestinal epithelial transport, mucosal responses, keratinocyte signaling and antimicrobial activity. KPV represents the C-terminal tripeptide sequence of α-MSH and has been investigated separately from the complete parent peptide.

Research into KPV’s signaling mechanisms remains ongoing. Experimental studies have examined pathways involving PepT1 transport, NF-κB, MAPK, cytokine signaling and melanocortin-related mechanisms. Findings should be interpreted within the individual cell, animal or laboratory systems used in each study.

02 / Research profile

The pathways.
The possibilities.

Published KPV research spans several experimental areas, with the strongest body of direct evidence involving inflammatory signaling and intestinal models. Most published KPV evidence remains preclinical.

01 / Research focus

Intestinal & Mucosal Research

KPV has been investigated in intestinal epithelial cells, immune-cell systems and experimental models of intestinal inflammation. Published work has examined PepT1-mediated cellular uptake and signaling involving NF-κB, MAPK and pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. Separate animal studies have examined KPV in experimentally induced intestinal inflammation, including models involving nonfunctional MC1R signaling.

02 / Research focus

Inflammatory Signaling

Experimental studies have compared the C-terminal KPV sequence with full α-MSH and other melanocortin-related peptides. Cell and animal studies indicate that KPV signaling does not simply reproduce the classical cAMP response associated with the complete α-MSH peptide. The mechanisms responsible for the experimental effects observed with KPV remain an active area of research.

03 / Research focus

Epithelial & Antimicrobial Research

KPV has also been examined in cultured human keratinocyte models and other epithelial research systems. Separate in-vitro studies have investigated α-MSH-derived peptides, including KPV, against organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans.

Reading the evidence

Evidence context: Published KPV research is predominantly preclinical, including cell-based, in-vitro and animal studies. Findings should be interpreted within the experimental models and conditions used in each publication.

How testing works
01 / Purity

What is in the sample?

HPLC separates components under a defined method. Read the reported percentage alongside the chromatogram, wavelength, integration method, and scope of the test.

02 / Identity

Is it the expected compound?

Mass spectrometry provides molecular-mass evidence. Identity and chromatographic purity answer different questions; one cannot stand in for the other.

03 / Traceability

Does the report match the vial?

Connect the product name, variant, lot identifier, report date, and issuing laboratory. A report is useful only when its sample can be linked to the material being reviewed.

Independent analysis

Every KPV lot is analyzed by Nordicstar Analytical Sciences for identity, content, and purity by HPLC with LC-MS confirmation. Each certificate carries a report number and verification key that can be checked at nordicstarlabs.com/verify. Research references below describe published science, not a certificate for a vial.

06 / Common questions

A little more
understanding.

What is KPV?

KPV stands for Lys-Pro-Val, a three-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the C-terminal α-MSH(11–13) sequence. Published research has primarily examined KPV in cell-based, in-vitro and animal models involving inflammatory signaling, epithelial transport and barrier-tissue biology.

What is another scientific name for KPV?

KPV is also described in scientific literature as Lys-Pro-Val, α-MSH(11–13) or MSH(11–13). Its amino-acid sequence is KPV.
