01 / The compound

Understand
the starting point.

Experimental sleep, EEG & neuroendocrine research

DSIP, short for Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, is a nonapeptide with the amino-acid sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu (WAGGDASGE). It was characterized in the 1970s after being isolated from cerebral venous blood of rabbits during experimental sleep research. Synthetic DSIP was subsequently reported to enhance delta and spindle EEG activity in rabbit experiments.

Subsequent DSIP research expanded into experimental models examining sleep-associated EEG activity, neuroendocrine signaling and other physiological responses. Findings across the literature have varied by model and methodology, and the peptide's biological role and mechanism remain incompletely characterized.

02 / Research profile

The pathways.
The possibilities.

DSIP’s biological role and mechanism remain incompletely characterized. Its name originated in experimental EEG observations, while later studies examine neuroendocrine and stress-related responses with results that vary by model.

01 / Research focus

Sleep Architecture & EEG Research

Early DSIP research focused on sleep-associated EEG activity. The original rabbit experiments reported enhanced delta and spindle EEG patterns following administration of synthetic DSIP, providing the basis for subsequent investigation of the peptide in sleep research.

02 / Research focus

Sleep-Related Preclinical Research

DSIP was originally characterized through animal experiments involving EEG patterns and behavior. More recent preclinical research has investigated experimental models involving EEG recording, stress responses and environmental adaptation.

03 / Research focus

Neuroendocrine Research

DSIP has also been investigated in preclinical models of endocrine signaling. Laboratory research has examined stress-related peptide markers and neurochemical pathways to better understand the molecule's possible biological interactions.

Reading the evidence

DSIP research spans historical rabbit EEG experiments and more recent preclinical models examining neurological, neuroendocrine and stress-related responses. The available findings vary substantially by experimental system, methodology and endpoint. Results should therefore be interpreted within the specific animal or laboratory model used and should not be generalized beyond those conditions.

How testing works
01 / Purity

What is in the sample?

HPLC separates components under a defined method. Read the reported percentage alongside the chromatogram, wavelength, integration method, and scope of the test.

02 / Identity

Is it the expected compound?

Mass spectrometry provides molecular-mass evidence. Identity and chromatographic purity answer different questions; one cannot stand in for the other.

03 / Traceability

Does the report match the vial?

Connect the product name, variant, lot identifier, report date, and issuing laboratory. A report is useful only when its sample can be linked to the material being reviewed.

Independent analysis

Every DSIP lot is analyzed by Nordicstar Analytical Sciences for identity, content, and purity by HPLC with LC-MS confirmation. Each certificate carries a report number and verification key that can be checked at nordicstarlabs.com/verify. Research references below describe published science, not a certificate for a vial.

05 / Storage & handling

Care for
the material.

Keep sealed research material protected from moisture, unnecessary light and temperature fluctuations. Use the storage conditions documented for the specific compound, formulation and lot.

Solution stability depends on solvent, concentration, container and experimental conditions. Use a validated laboratory protocol; a universal post-reconstitution shelf life is not established by the literature summaries.

06 / Common questions

A little more
understanding.

What does DSIP stand for?

DSIP stands for Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, the name given to the nine-amino-acid peptide characterized in early experimental sleep research.

Is DSIP the same as Emideltide?

Yes. Emideltide is an alternative name used for Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP).
