KISS1R recognition & neuroendocrine signaling

Kisspeptin refers to a family of biologically active peptides produced from the KISS1 precursor. Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is a 10-amino-acid amidated peptide corresponding to the conserved C-terminal sequence shared by the naturally occurring kisspeptins. It is also identified in scientific literature as human Metastin 45-54.

Naturally occurring kisspeptin isoforms include KP-54, KP-14, KP-13 and KP-10. KP-10 is the smallest of these commonly described isoforms and can activate the kisspeptin receptor, KISS1R, formerly known as GPR54. The KISS1/KISS1R system is extensively studied for its role in neuroendocrine signaling upstream of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH).

KISS1R Signaling

Kisspeptins are endogenous ligands of the kisspeptin receptor KISS1R, historically known as GPR54. Foundational receptor studies characterized kisspeptin-mediated signaling in receptor-expressing experimental systems, including phospholipase-C-associated signaling, intracellular calcium mobilization and downstream kinase pathways. KP-10 contains the conserved C-terminal sequence required for kisspeptin receptor activity and is widely used as a research ligand for investigating KISS1R signaling.

KP-10 Structure & Receptor Research

Structure-activity research has examined Kisspeptin-10 and related peptide analogues to determine how individual residues contribute to KISS1R binding and receptor activation. These experiments provide mechanistic information about peptide-receptor recognition and signaling under defined in-vitro and preclinical conditions. Findings from related analogues should not automatically be assigned to GLPZone material.

Reading the evidence

Published Kisspeptin-10 research spans biochemical, cell-based and animal experimental systems. Evidence should be interpreted according to the specific peptide, model, formulation and experimental conditions used in each publication. Findings from published experiments do not establish the properties or effects of GLPZone material where the tested compound, preparation or conditions differ.

How testing works
01 / Purity

What is in the sample?

HPLC separates components under a defined method. Read the reported percentage alongside the chromatogram, wavelength, integration method, and scope of the test.

02 / Identity

Is it the expected compound?

Mass spectrometry provides molecular-mass evidence. Identity and chromatographic purity answer different questions; one cannot stand in for the other.

03 / Traceability

Does the report match the vial?

Connect the product name, variant, lot identifier, report date, and issuing laboratory. A report is useful only when its sample can be linked to the material being reviewed.

Independent analysis

Every Kisspeptin-10 lot is analyzed by Nordicstar Analytical Sciences for identity, content, and purity by HPLC with LC-MS confirmation. Each certificate carries a report number and verification key that can be checked at nordicstarlabs.com/verify. Research references below describe published science, not a certificate for a vial.

05 / Storage & handling

Care for
the material.

Keep sealed research material protected from moisture, unnecessary light and temperature fluctuations. Use the storage conditions documented for the specific compound, formulation and lot.

Solution stability depends on solvent, concentration, container and experimental conditions. Use a validated laboratory protocol; a universal post-reconstitution shelf life is not established by the literature summaries.

06 / Common questions

A little more
understanding.

What is the difference between kisspeptin and Kisspeptin-10?

Kisspeptin refers to a family of KISS1-derived peptides. Kisspeptin-10, or KP-10, is the 10-amino-acid C-terminal isoform and is the specific isoform described here. Other naturally occurring kisspeptin isoforms include KP-13, KP-14 and KP-54.

What does KP-10 mean?

KP-10 is an abbreviation for Kisspeptin-10. The "10" refers to its 10-amino-acid sequence. KP-10 is the smallest naturally occurring active kisspeptin isoform commonly described in the scientific literature.

What is Metastin 45-54?

Human Metastin 45-54 is another scientific designation for Kisspeptin-10. It represents the 10-residue C-terminal region of the longer 54-amino-acid kisspeptin peptide historically called metastin.
